Technology Assistance

BBHCC is working with RSU 25 to provide older adults with the knowledge and basic skills to navigate telehealth and social media platforms to help decrease the amount of isolation that is created when people in the community cannot get out and interact with others.

 

Using technology grant funds from the National Digital Equity Center, Samsung tablets were purchased and are lent to those interested (according to agreed-upon terms). As part of this program, participants will learn how to use a tablet with a tutor in a small group or one-on-one format. The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) offers eligible Maine families up to $30 a month off their internet bill. Eligibility is based on income. Or if you participate in any of the following programs, you automatically qualify:

 

  1. SNAP

  2. WIC

  3. SSI

  4. Most federal and state housing assistance programs

  5. Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit

  6. Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch Program

  7. Received a Federal Pell Grant in the current award year
