Maine Families is a home-visiting program offering information and support to first-time parents of all ages and income levels in Hancock County. The program begins during pregnancy or shortly after the baby's birth. All Maine Families (Formerly Parents Are Teachers Too, or P.A.T.T.) play groups are open to the public and are free of charge. No advance registration needed. All groups meet once a week except where noted. The health center is open 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday by appointment. 24-hour On-Call Emergency Coverage is provided. Bucksport Family Medicine accepts assignment on Medicare, Medicaid, managed care and most private insurance. BFM offers a medical assistance plan to those who qualify. A food pantry program that provides Bucksport, Orland, and Verona Island residents groceries, clothing and other household essentials. The pantry is located in the basement of the Elm Street Congregational Church at 31 Elm Street in Bucksport. MEWell has two main features. The first is an assessment that Maine residents, 18 years or older, can complete. Based on your answers to a series of health questions, you will get three personalized reports. The reports assess your risk for chronic disease, highlight where you can take action to improve your health, and provide a list of local resources in your area that can help with disease prevention and management. The second feature helps Mainers, especially those who are uninsured or underinsured, learn about low cost healthcare services in their local area. |
